TO DO Award Human Rights in Tourism
Human rights in tourism must be high up on the agenda – on a permanent basis and not just when business is going well. Upon the initiative of the Institute for Tourism and Development the “TO DO Award Human Rights in Tourism“ has been created as a new award. It was awarded for the first time at ITB Berlin in 2017 under the auspices of the German Commission for UNESCO. Criteria for the award were developed in close coordination with the Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism, a cooperation of stakeholders from civil society, the tourism industry, and politics. It serves to award initiatives, projects, and individuals committed to human rights principles along the touristic value chain in an exemplary manner. It is not possible to apply for the TO DO Award Human Rights in Tourism. Rather, an expert jury selects potential award winners by observing the market and evaluating their efforts.
